Took my first Open Water Diving course at Tioman Island, Malaysia. 29 – 30 July 2017.
I have been interested to take the diving course for a long time but have not have a chance to do so. Until my friend, Daniel asked if anyone want to join him for a diving course at Tioman Island. We signed up for the course at Gill Diver, Hong Kong Street.
The Open Water Diving course for beginner cost us around SGD599, plus equipments rental another SGD50. Total estimate was around SGD650.
The Theory test
Was held in the evening after work. It took around 3 – 3.5 hours for the lecture before we took the test.
Confined Diving Session
Took one full day on the weekend. We learned how to use the equipments, basic diving skills such as mask clearing, regulator clearing, etc.. At Outram Park Secondary School swimming pool.
The Trip
Took one weekend.
The meeting time was 6pm on Friday evening. I should not have taken half day leave actually..
We meet opposite Outram Park Secondary School where we took the confined diving. Lucky enough, the instructor was the same person who taught us at confined diving. Our group has 5 students, 1 instructor. After check the diving equipments, we start to board the bus and travel from Singapore cross over to Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The dive was good. I had problem going down from the surface at first.. But after 2-3 dives, I was okay with it.
Was great to meet new people like Sheryl, Liz, Peter, and our friendly instructor Kenneth.
Overall was a good experience. Definitely, there will be more dives to come.
