IM Innovations partners Singapore Poly and National Library Board to hold 3D IDM Seminar. Some of the biggest blockbuster movies are done with visual effects in movies like Golden Compass, Spider-Man 3, Harry Potter, and Surf’s Up. It is no wonder that computer generated 3D models, animation and visual effects are hot topics for the public, creative professionals and educators.
IM Innovations Pte Ltd, National Library Board and Singapore Polytechnic jointly organised a seminar held on 4 Sep 2009 at the Multi-Purpose room, Central Public Library. About 60 industry professionals and members of the public attended this seminar to find out how software tools like CINEMA 4D from MAXON, can bring their story to life with vivid imagery.
Jasna Dhansukhlal, Branch Manager of Central Public Library highlighted the growing interest in visual effects and looks forward to support more of such sessions. Dr. Timothy Chan, Director of DMIT noted that leading players such as Electronic Arts, Lucasfilm from US and Koei from Japan have established operations in Singapore. Vincent Ong, Managing Director of IM Innovations shared the company’s vision to make 3D visualization and interactive digital media pervasive through such seminars, outreach programmes and training workshops.
Jeff Hung (IM Innovations), the demo artist, kick-started the demonstration by showing how beginners with no experience in 3D can quickly learn and use professional 3D software, like CINEMA 4D, to create and animation 3D objects. In the second session, Jeff enthralled participants by showing how motion graphics artists can use a palette of powerful tools to create everything from flying logos to abstract effects. Rainiko, Motion Graphics Designer from VHQ Post (S) Pte Ltd commented that “To me, CINEMA 4D & MoGraph is really a SUPERB software that gives ANYONE the opportunity to bring any imagination into reality. You really have to try it to believe it!”. Her colleague, Tom Thanachart added, “MoGraph is a powerful tool to create 3D Motion Graphics. It saves time, is easy to use and produces ‘wow’ outputs”.
